Dabblers Dabblers

Dabblers have been the greatest development in Irish trout fly style in the past thirty years.

Since the early 1990's they have become probably the most popular style of wet fly used.

Originally heavily hackled and designed to be dibbled in the surface film they have evolved to provide patterns which can imitate sedge, hatching mayfly, fry etc by subtle changes in the amount of hackle used  and bodies and wings interspersed with glitter and tinsel.

Today few lough anglers fish without them and they can be fished in teams of three or with other wet flies on the cast. They will fish anywhere and I have had correspondence from anglers all over the world who have had success with them. How I wish I had invented the style. !!! The following selection contains some of the most popular dabblers fished.
